BMW Celebrates Final Alpina XB7 With Exclusive Manufaktur Edition

19

BMW is marking the end of Alpina XB7 production with a limited-run, high-performance Manufaktur edition available in the United States and Canada. The move comes as BMW integrates Alpina fully under its own brand, positioning it as a direct competitor to luxury rivals like Mercedes-Maybach.

Performance and Powertrain

The XB7 Manufaktur retains the potent twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 engine, producing 631 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque. This allows the SUV to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.9 seconds. The engine is paired with the Alpina Switch-Tronic eight-speed transmission, enhanced by a 48-volt integrated motor for seamless shifts.

Exclusive Design Features

The special edition stands out with two unique exterior colors: Frozen Alpina Green and Frozen Alpina Blue. High-gloss black Shadowline trim accents the grille, windows, intakes, and exhaust outlets, while distinctive Alpina badging reinforces the model’s exclusivity. Standard features include 23-inch Alpina Classic 20-spoked forged wheels.

Inside, the cabin is lavishly appointed with Tartufo Full Merino leather and Walnut Nature Black trim. Alpina-branded headrests in matching green or blue accents complement the luxury interior. Second-row captain’s chairs, a Bowers & Wilkins Diamond surround sound system, and two custom Lavalina leather weekender bags are included as standard.

Availability and Pricing

Production of the 2026 BMW Alpina XB7 Manufaktur begins in September, with deliveries expected in the fourth quarter. The SUV carries a starting price of $181,550 (including destination charges), significantly higher than the base X7 model at $90,000. The vehicles will be built at BMW’s Spartanburg, South Carolina factory, marking the first time an Alpina is assembled outside Germany.

Implications and Future Outlook

The Alpina XB7’s production run began in 2020, pioneering the brand’s expansion beyond its German workshop. With Alpina now under BMW’s full control, the automaker intends to elevate the brand to compete directly with ultra-luxury competitors. This suggests future Alpina models, possibly including a high-performance X7 variant, are in development.

The Manufaktur edition is not just a farewell to a model; it’s a statement about BMW’s ambition to position Alpina as a premier luxury performance brand.
