The Australian mental health charity Drive Against Depression (DAD) will cap off its 2025 event schedule with the Brisbane Summer Drive Day on December 7th. This marks the tenth and final event for the year, and the second to be hosted in Queensland. The event provides a unique way to raise awareness about mental wellness by combining driving enthusiasts with a supportive community.
Event Details and Route
The drive will commence at Sunshine Ford in Southport, on the Gold Coast, and conclude at the Wynnum Ambulance Museum in Brisbane. Participants can expect an engaging route, facilitated by the Tourboss app to ensure smooth navigation.
The event will also feature an educational segment from the Queensland Ambulance Service, detailing their approach to mental health callouts. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore the organization’s vehicle collection and enjoy a catered lunch.
Community Engagement and Support
DAD aims to foster a non-judgemental environment where individuals can openly discuss their mental wellness journey. The Brisbane event will include a raffle with a dashcam prize courtesy of Uniden, and a speaking session from an expert at Talked, a therapy provider.
The organization emphasizes the importance of mental health, particularly during potentially challenging end-of-year periods. DAD encourages anyone seeking support or connection to join the event.
Long-Term Impact and Partnerships
Drive Against Depression has expanded its network of mental health practitioners to provide ongoing support. The charity has seen continued backing from automotive industry figures, including CarExpert team members like James Wong (current charity ambassador) and founder Paul Maric (former ambassador).
“Whatever the end-of-year season means for you, we encourage you to take the time you need to look after your mental wellness,” says the Drive Against Depression team.
Registration is now open to all road-registered vehicles. For those in need of immediate support, Lifeline (13 11 14) and Suicide Call Back Service (1300 659 467) are available 24/7. In emergencies, please call 000.
The final event reinforces Drive Against Depression’s commitment to supporting mental health through community-driven initiatives.
