Denza, a premium electric vehicle brand owned by BYD, has unveiled the Z9 GT, a new model that redefines the limits of electric car performance. Priced from $39,100 to $53,600, the Z9 GT stands out with an industry-leading 1,036km (643 miles) CLTC range, making it the farthest-reaching electric vehicle currently available.
Exterior and Interior Refinements
The Z9 GT features a modernized design, with sharper lines on the front fascia and updated wheel options. The sleek fastback profile remains, enhanced by elongated taillights and a dynamic rear spoiler. Inside, the cabin now includes a new column shifter, redesigned steering wheel, and ambient lighting options.
A standout feature is the new “Lava Red” interior, complete with sporty seats, carbon fibre trim, and a Boost racing paddle for a more aggressive driving experience. The vehicle retains its three-screen layout, ensuring a futuristic and immersive user interface.
Powertrain Options and Performance
The Z9 GT offers both single-motor rear-wheel-drive and triple-motor high-performance variants. The single-motor version delivers 370 kW (496 hp), while the triple-motor version boosts output to 956 hp (708 kW), achieving 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in just 2.7 seconds.
Blade Battery 2.0: A Charging Revolution
What truly sets the Z9 GT apart is its charging speed. Equipped with Denza’s second-generation Blade Battery, the vehicle can be charged from 10% to 97% in just 9 minutes and 8 seconds. The slight limitation to 97% is intentional, as BYD CEO Wang Chuanfu jokingly explained: “You always need to leave a little room for regenerative braking!” A plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version is also available, offering up to 401 km (249 miles) of pure electric range.
