BYD, the world’s leading producer of electric vehicles, has officially launched its newest flagship sedan, the Seal 08. This mid-to-large-sized coupe represents a significant step forward in BYD’s technology, combining long-range capability with high performance and advanced driver-assistance systems.
Design and Dimensions
The Seal 08 features a streamlined design inspired by BYD’s Ocean-S concept. Its sleek exterior includes a closed-off grille, slim headlights, and integrated starlight ambient lighting. A LiDAR unit is visible on the roof, signaling advanced autonomous driving features. The fastback silhouette and flowing wave lines create a modern aesthetic that reinforces the vehicle’s premium positioning.
The car measures 5,150mm in length, 1,999mm in width, and 1,505mm in height, with a long 3,030mm wheelbase. These dimensions provide ample cabin space while maintaining a sporty profile.
Battery and Performance
The Seal 08 is built on an 800V high-voltage platform and utilizes BYD’s second-generation Blade Battery technology. The company aims for a range exceeding 1,000km (621 miles) on a single charge – a key benchmark for modern EVs. The vehicle also supports ultra-fast charging, adding 400km (249 miles) of range in just 5 minutes.
The all-wheel-drive (AWD) version will deliver over 480kW (644 hp) of power, enabling acceleration from 0 to 100km/h (0 to 62 mph) in under 5 seconds. The Seal 08 will also include rear-wheel steering and BYD’s DiSus-A intelligent body control system for superior handling and ride comfort.
Advanced Driving Features
BYD may integrate its God’s Eye B (DiPilot 300) intelligent driving system into the Seal 08. This suggests that the vehicle will offer advanced driver-assistance capabilities, including autonomous driving features. The LiDAR sensor confirms the intention to push boundaries in automated driving.
Market Availability
