Chery Exeed Expands Lineup with New EVs and Solid-State Battery Plans

Chery’s premium sub-brand, Exeed, has revealed four upcoming models – the ES7 GT and ES8 shooting brakes, alongside the ET8 and ET9 SUVs – signaling a major push into advanced electric vehicle (EV) technology. The announcement, made December 22nd, outlines a phased rollout with the first vehicle launching within ten months, and the remaining models following over the next twenty.

Next-Gen Tech: Autonomous Driving and Solid-State Batteries

All four vehicles will integrate Chery’s Falcon advanced driver-assistance system. This includes Level 3 autonomous driving capabilities through the Falcon 900 system, slated for 2026. More notably, Chery plans to begin testing its Rhino S all-solid-state battery in these models as early as next year. Solid-state batteries represent a major leap in EV technology, offering higher energy density, improved safety, and faster charging times compared to conventional lithium-ion batteries.

Performance and Range: Key Specs for Each Model

The Exeed ES7 GT is a shooting brake designed for performance, boasting a triple-motor EREV powertrain with sub-3-second 0-100 km/h acceleration. It’s projected to have a total range of 1,700 km and support ultra-fast 1,000V charging, delivering 450 km of range in just five minutes.

The Exeed ES8, another shooting brake, aims for a 1,000 km pure electric range using a solid-state battery. It will feature dual vector motors, four-wheel steering, and high-performance six-piston calipers. Its aerodynamic design achieves a drag coefficient of just 0.22 Cd, maximizing efficiency. The cabin includes a 15.6-inch central display powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chip and Huawei’s HarmonyOS ecosystem.

The Exeed ET8 is a large, six-seat SUV focused on comfort, equipped with 4D mechanical massage seats and a premium 31-speaker Boya audio system. Finally, the Exeed ET9 is positioned as a luxury flagship, offering rear-wheel steering, a “tank turn” feature for extreme maneuverability, and rear-hinged doors for easy access. The ET9 will also include rotating seats and an integrated oxygen generation system. The vehicle’s liftgate features a segmented design allowing independent opening of the upper and lower sections.

These announcements demonstrate Chery Exeed’s ambition to compete in the high-end EV market with cutting-edge technology and features. The planned integration of solid-state batteries, if successful, will position Exeed as an early adopter of this game-changing technology.

The move toward solid-state batteries is significant because it addresses key limitations of current EV technology, such as range anxiety and charging times. These models represent Chery Exeed’s serious commitment to innovation and a future where EVs offer both performance and luxury without compromise.
