Chery Expands Fulwin Line with New SUV and EV Models

23

Chery has unveiled two new vehicles under its Fulwin sub-brand at the 2025 Guangzhou Auto Show: the T9L large SUV and the A9 all-electric fastback. This move signals the company’s strategy of offering diverse powertrain options within a single brand. The T9L, slated for release in China in early 2026, features a plug-in hybrid system and a design inspired by “Eastern calligraphy,” measuring 4,870 mm in length with a 2,920 mm wheelbase.

Advanced Technology in the T9L

The T9L is equipped with advanced driver-assist systems powered by Horizon’s Journey 6P compute platform. This technology is designed to handle complex road conditions through predictive defensive driving capabilities. The inclusion of these features suggests a focus on safety and autonomous driving advancements.

The A9: Fulwin’s First Pure-Electric Vehicle

The A9 represents Fulwin’s entry into the pure-electric vehicle segment. It builds upon the earlier Fulwin E05 concept, first showcased at the 2024 Chengdu Auto Show, and retains key design elements such as the fastback profile, hidden door handles, and a streamlined roof with integrated sensors.

Interior and Features of the A9

The A9 promises an AI-driven “emotional cockpit” with multiple driving scenarios, including entertainment and safety modes. Amenities include a car refrigerator, digital fragrance system, ambient lighting, and 180-degree reclining front seats. The vehicle also boasts advanced driver-assistance features like highway NOA, automatic parking, and memory parking.

Powertrain Options and Range

While the Guangzhou debut focused on the all-electric A9, Chery has indicated that plug-in hybrid or range-extender variants may also be available under the A9/E05 umbrella. The company has previously referenced a combined range of 2,500 km, which is likely for mixed powertrain configurations rather than the pure-electric model alone. The A9 uses CDC adaptive-damping suspension with a double-wishbone front and five-link rear setup.

Why This Matters: Chery’s Fulwin sub-brand is aggressively targeting the mid-to-high-end market in China, and these launches demonstrate a commitment to both traditional and electric vehicle technologies. By offering multiple powertrain options under one brand, Chery aims to cater to a wider range of consumer preferences while solidifying its position in the competitive Chinese automotive landscape. The emphasis on AI-driven features and luxury amenities further highlights the brand’s ambition to compete with established premium automakers.
