Leapmotor is preparing to launch its new all-electric compact SUV, the A10, in the first quarter of this year. New details confirm the vehicle will be available with two battery options, offering ranges up to 505 km (CLTC standard). This launch is critical as Leapmotor aims for a substantial 70% sales increase this year.

Range and Charging Capabilities

The A10 will come with a choice of a 39.8 kWh battery (403 km range) or a larger 53 kWh battery (505 km range). Fast-charging capabilities allow the battery to gain 50% charge in just 16 minutes (30% to 80%). This is a competitive feature, making the A10 a strong contender in the rapidly expanding EV market.

Design and Dimensions

Leapmotor’s design language, dubbed “Technological Natural Aesthetics 2.0”, defines the A10’s exterior. Unique features include distinctive “Smiling Headlights” and “Haha Taillights”. The vehicle measures 4270 mm in length, 1810 mm in width, and 1635 mm in height, with a 2605 mm wheelbase. Customers can choose from six colors: Seaweed Green, Acorn Brown, Berry Blue, Tundra Grey, Star River Silver, and Morgan Pink.

Performance and Technology

The A10 is powered by a 90 kW (121 hp) electric motor. Key tech includes a lidar system for advanced driver assistance, a Qualcomm 8650 intelligent driving chip, and a Qualcomm 8295P cockpit chip. This combination of hardware and software positions the A10 as a technologically advanced vehicle in its class.

Leapmotor’s Aggressive Sales Target

This year, Leapmotor has set an ambitious goal of selling 1.05 million vehicles. This represents a substantial increase from the 600,000 units sold last year. The company is betting on models like the A10 to drive this growth. For context, the Geely Geome Xingyuan – a direct competitor to the A10 – was China’s best-selling EV last year.

Leapmotor’s success hinges on its ability to deliver affordable, competitive EVs. The A10 is a key part of that strategy.

The A10 represents a significant push by Leapmotor into the competitive compact SUV segment, and its success will be closely watched by industry analysts and consumers alike.
