Japanese tuning house Tom’s Racing has unveiled a new “Tom’s Edition” package for the Lexus LC coupe and convertible, alongside upgraded versions of the GX, LX, and LM models. While the upgrades range from aesthetic tweaks to potential performance enhancements, the LC’s new front end has drawn criticism for its resemblance to older Toyota designs.
LC: Retrograde Styling?
The most striking change to the LC is a reworked front bumper that significantly alters the car’s signature spindle grille. The grille is now smaller and detached, while the lower intake remains prominent. New triangular side inlets flank the headlights. Some observers have described the result as a downgrade, suggesting the design borrows too heavily from Corolla-era Toyota styling.
Tom’s Racing defends the update, claiming it “retains the spindle grille… while also blending it with the spindle body concept.” The tuner’s interpretation includes hourglass-shaped lines at the front and rear. The profile remains unchanged except for new 21-inch alloy wheels. The rear gains a new bumper extension with quad exhaust pipes and a subtle diffuser.
The LC’s naturally aspirated V8 engine remains untouched, producing 471 hp and 540 Nm of torque. Tom’s Racing is exploring performance upgrades but has ruled out turbocharging. The full Tom’s Edition package costs ¥25,500,050 ($171,000), while the upgrade kit for existing LC owners starts at ¥9,950,050 ($67,000).
GX: Trail-Inspired Ruggedness
The GX Tom’s Edition adopts a more aggressive look inspired by trail running shoes. The bodykit includes wider fenders, hood inserts, side skirts with integrated steps, and colorful accents. The interior will feature “sustainable materials, renewable energy, and circular design,” including deer skin waste and mushroom-based leather. Performance upgrades for the twin-turbo V6 are in development.
LX: Understated Luxury
The Lexus LX Tom’s Edition features a dark-themed exterior with a subtle styling kit and massive 22-inch alloy wheels. The interior gains fresh upholstery, and power upgrades are under development. The full package costs ¥27,419,500 ($173,400), while the upgrade kit for existing LX owners costs ¥12,919,500 ($81,700).
LM: Gold-Plated Opulence
The Lexus LM Tom’s Edition Gold Limited pushes luxury to the extreme with champagne gold highlights across the body, bespoke multi-spoke alloys, and revised aero elements. The interior features gold diamond-stitched seats and coordinated trim. The full package costs ¥26,500,500 ($167,600), while the upgrade kit costs ¥11,500,500 ($72,700).
Tom’s Racing showcased these creations at the 2026 Tokyo Auto Salon, demonstrating their commitment to modifying Lexus vehicles. The tuner’s approach ranges from subtle enhancements to bold, divisive redesigns.
