Mercedes-Benz C-Class Facelift: New Details on Design and Tech

2

The upcoming facelift for the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, expected this summer, is taking shape. Spy photos reveal a design direction already seen in other recent Mercedes models – namely, a stronger emphasis on the brand’s three-pointed star motif. Expect the headlights and taillights to incorporate this star-shaped element, alongside potential grille and air intake updates following the same theme.

Design Evolution: Larger Grille, Updated Lighting

The refreshed C-Class appears to follow the trend set by the S-, GLE, and GLS lineups with a potentially larger front grille. While not dramatically different, the new model also features updated door mirrors with distinctive C-shaped lighting units, and restyled wheel options.

Inside the Cabin: AI-Powered Tech, Enhanced Driver Assist

The interior retains the current 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and 11.9-inch infotainment system, but the latter will likely feature the latest Mercedes-Benz Operating System and an AI-powered personal assistant. The steering wheel is also getting updated switchgear, along with potential trim and upholstery changes.

More significantly, the facelifted C-Class will likely offer the MB.Drive Assist Pro system, a Level 2+ semi-autonomous driving feature already available on the CLA. This allows for hands-free navigation in urban environments, marking a step forward in driver assistance technology.

Powertrain Updates: More Power, New Variant

The base engine will remain a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder producing 255 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque, while diesel options will continue in European markets. The biggest change is the rumored replacement of the C43 with a new C53 variant. This model will boast a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engine delivering 443 hp and 443 lb-ft of torque – a substantial upgrade over the current four-cylinder configuration.

The shift towards the inline-six in the C53 signals Mercedes’ commitment to performance without sacrificing efficiency. The inclusion of the MB.Drive Assist Pro system further solidifies the C-Class’ position as a technologically advanced sedan.
