Voyah, Dongfeng’s premium electric vehicle brand, has released its new Passion L plug-in hybrid sedan in China. Priced between $39,600 and $43,800, the vehicle combines a gasoline engine with powerful electric motors to deliver impressive performance and range. This launch signals a trend among Chinese automakers: offering high-tech, long-range hybrids as a bridge to full electric vehicles.

Performance and Range

The Voyah Passion L boasts a combined output of 650 horsepower from its 1.5-liter turbocharged engine and dual electric motors. It accelerates efficiently, and more importantly, delivers a combined range of 1,400 kilometers (870 miles) when both the 51-liter fuel tank and 63 kWh battery pack are full.

The car’s hybrid system is capable of 0.17 liters per 100 kilometers fuel consumption, a figure that illustrates its focus on efficiency. The 800V architecture enables 5C fast-charging, adding 60% capacity in just 12 minutes.

Tech and Comfort

The Passion L integrates Huawei’s latest technologies, including the Qiankun ADS 4.0 advanced driving system. This system uses an array of sensors—lidar, radar, cameras, and ultrasonic detectors—for assisted driving.

Inside, the vehicle features a luxurious interior with wood accents, leather trim, and several high-end amenities:

  • A centrally mounted 16.1-inch 3K display running Huawei’s HarmonySpace 5 OS.
  • A 39-inch augmented reality head-up display (AR-HUD).
  • An integrated 6.6-liter refrigerator that keeps beverages cold between -6°C and 50°C.
  • An adjustable air suspension system with 65mm of height adjustment.

The rear passengers aren’t forgotten, with their own 8-inch LCD screen.

Chassis and Dimensions

The Passion L is a mid-to-large sedan measuring 5,125 mm long, 1,985 mm wide, and with a 3,010 mm wheelbase. The all-aluminum chassis uses a double-wishbone front suspension and a five-link rear setup for smooth handling. Rear-wheel steering and adjustable air suspension improve stability and ride comfort.

The Voyah Passion L represents a shift toward more efficient and tech-rich plug-in hybrids. By combining gasoline with high-performance electric systems, Voyah is targeting buyers who want extended range without fully committing to electric driving.

This vehicle showcases how Chinese automakers are quickly innovating to meet global demand for sustainable, high-performance vehicles.
